President's Message

Hello Fellow Clerks:

The fall would not be complete without our “Election Worlds” and this year’s election with all the new election laws will prove to be interesting, I am sure.

As there are a lot of new election laws along with changes in vitals this year, I urge clerks to go to any of the many training classes offered.  There are also scholarship funds available and applications for these funds are available on our website at: www.mtcca.org or by contacting our Scholarship Chair, Ruth Lyons, of Topsham.

MTCCA rolled out a new training DVD to our membership this year by video-taping the training classes.  The goal is to bring on-going training opportunities to rural clerks around our vast State.

A training class was video taped last year and was tested by a participating county association who viewed the three DVD sessions for no fee but was required to give feedback on whether this was a viable format to offer training to the clerks.  The County Association President was required to take attendance at all sessions and the county association members who attended were required to be in attendance for the entire sessions and pay a fee of $20 to be eligible to receive certification credit.  From positive feedback the training classes have all been video taped and the DVDs are available at the county association level to the clerks.

Another new web-based training format was offered this year.  MMA partnered with MTCCA in creating a professional, secure web-based training which breaks up a full day class into 5 separate modules.  Participating clerks must pay the regular class fee, MMA will assign a user name and password to the requesting clerk and the clerk would have up to 30 days to complete the class on line.  At the end of each module, the participating clerk must answer a few questions and will then receive proof of completion.  Once the five modules are successfully completed, they can be submitted to MMA to receive an official certificate for certification credit.   Thanks go to Jeri Holt at MMA who was a big help with this project, along with our past president and many of our most brilliant MTCCA clerks.

Thank you all for all that you do for our association.  Without so many dedicated, hardworking clerks and the help from MMA Staff, the MTCCA could not run so smoothly.   I am most proud and so very honored to serve as your president for 2011-2012.
